Weybridge, Surrey - (A room with a view)

How to maintain a beautiful view & keep light to the existing dwelling when extending. This was the task in hand. Well with an imaginative archetect, a willing client and a lot of glass incorporated in the project, thats how basically, a dramatic view of the local church spire had to be preserved at all cost.

When you have a victorian property it's best to try & extend in sympathy with the original structure, or you make a bold statement with a contemporary design, the latter was chosen as the way forward. A huge expanse of glass was the basis for the front wall of the extension, from floor to ceiling, an "infinity room" if you like, you could not really see where the room stopped & the garden started along with a large glass lantern type roof light incorporated in a natural "sedum" planted flat roof.

The view was maintained to everyones relief. An interesting and imaginative project.
